He calls it his Special Birthday Book. He gets so excited every time we read it because he is the star of the book, not just his name. It was such a wonderful moment when he realized that not only did the character in the book share his name, but looked like him, and loved all the same things. We read it altogether yesterday afternoon when they opened it, and by the end both were crying. What a stunning piece you have. The quality and story are gorgeous, and I can’t tell you how much it meant to them to have a story that reflected their story. I particularly loved the dancing bit. And it sparked a conversation about how Jen experienced pregnancy at the poppyseed, peapod, etc stages. Your work and art are so, so very important for marginalized families. Wow. Plus, the board book is so great for the babies to be able to touch it. —Kat B.
